Training, Assessment & Quality Assurance (TAQA)
Optimus Associates are a City and Guilds approved assessment centre, offering training and assessment towards the following new qualifications;
A knowledge-only award for those who may want to assess in the future, but who are not currently assessing, or for those who need to know about the assessment process, but who don't actually assess. This will be assessed through an assignment and discussion only. (One unit)
For those who assess the achievement of competence in a work environment (not necessarily paid employment) against set standards, using observation, product of work, questioning and discussion, witness testimony and recognition of prior learning. You will need to have access to at least two candidates and will be observed carrying out the assessment process by your own assessor. (Two units)
For those who assess achievement in vocationally related situations i.e. classrooms and workshops, using simulation, skills tests, questioning, assignments, projects, case studies and recognition of prior achievement. You will need to have access to at least two candidates and will be observed carrying out the assessment process by your own assessor. (Two units)
For those who assess using a variety of different assessment methods from the list of; observation, work product, questioning and discussion, witness testimony, recognition of prior learning, simulation, skills tests, assignments and projects and case studies. You will need to have access to at least two candidates and will be observed carrying out the assessment process by your own assessor. (Three units)
These qualifications are for staff working in, or looking to gain entry to, roles in assessment. They have been developed by Lifelong Learning UK, along with City and Guilds, to replace the existing Vocational Assessor Award (A1) which expires on 31st December 2010.
The new units and qualifications will provide people who carry out assessment within their own organisation with the opportunity to develop and improve their own practice as well as achieving a recognised qualification for the role.
